Gray Field Labs was established in 1978 to study connection at a distance. We believe that a message does not need a recipient to be worth leaving, and that the right recipient will usually arrive.

We maintain a small number of field units in quiet places. Each unit is inspected regularly, cared for gently, and otherwise left alone. Visitors are encouraged to use them as directed.

We do not discuss the specifics of our work. We have found that people prefer it this way.
